Moon Phase Magick

*This is a great guide to follow as to when to do your Magick in accordance with the phases of the moon.  Z

New Moon workings can be done from the day of the new moon to three-and-a- half days after. The new moon is for starting new ventures, new beginnings. Also love and romance, health or job hunting.

Waxing Moon Magick: From seven to fourteen days after the new moon. The waxing moon is for constructive magick, such as love, wealth, success, courage, friendship, luck or health.

Full Moon Magick: From fourteen to seventeen-and- a-half days after the new moon. Prime time for rituals for prophecy, protection, divination. Any working that needs extra power, such as help finding a new job or healings for serious conditions, can be done now. Also, love, knowledge, legal undertakings, money and dreams.

Waning Moon Magick: From three-and-a- half to ten-and-a-half days after the full moon. The waning moon is used for banishing magick, for ridding oneself of addictions, illness or negativity.

Dark Moon Magick: From ten-and-a-half to fourteen days after the full moon. The dark moon is a time for dealing with attackers, for exploring our darkest recesses and understanding our angers and passions. Also bringing justice to bear.

Sioux Indian chief calls all nations to action on June 21

I googled CHIEF ARVOL LOOKING HORSE  and this is some of what I read - I have been trying to get people to come together and pray to stop the oil leak in the Gulf - he did what I couldn't and I am so grateful to him

Sioux Indian chief calls all nations to action on June 21

By Juliane Poirier

The leader of the Lakota Dakota Nakota Oyate, the great Sioux nation, is a man with a vision. Chief Arvol Looking Horse sees a great danger threatening "Grandmother Earth" and a great hope for restoring her wholeness. So he is calling all nations to prayer of any kind on June 21 in an effort to return the planet to balance, the people to spirit. I asked him why this path is the right path to take.

"A man or a woman without spirit is very dangerous," Looking Horse explained in a recent phone interview. According to this Sioux chief, the absence of spirit is causing suffering everywhere. "We are in a time of survival," he said. "But we don't want to believe it because we have forgotten our spirits. We have forgotten that Grandmother Earth has a spirit." Disconnected souls, according to Looking Horse, are "hurting others without even knowing they are hurting others." Those being hurt include animals, trees and waterways.

The Sioux have an inclusive worldview, but it was not shared by the transplanted Europeans who undertook genocide on Indian land, culminating in the Wounded Knee massacre of 1890. That final brutality broke the "hoop" binding Indians together; however, Sioux prophecy foretold that in a hundred years the people would be reunited.

Although surviving tribe members and their descendants were stripped of religious freedoms (returned to them only 32 year ago by the U.S. government), the rituals were kept and the prophecy not forgotten. So the Sioux nations set out on horseback to "mend the broken hoop" of their nation in 1986 at a sacred site known to non-Indians (and Close Encounters of the Third Kind fans) as Devils Tower or the Great Horn Butte; their ritual went on for four years and concluded in 1990, 100 years after Wounded Knee.

During the course of that long ritual, Looking Horse was surprised by a vision that came to him of peace and unity that included not only the Indian nations but all the nations of the world, each gathering with ritual plants around sacred fires on every continent. The Sioux chief felt called to oversee a much broader mending. But who was going to listen even to the chief of a people largely ignored in the country where they lived?

"We had to leave our homeland to be a voice in the world," said Looking Horse. "We are up against a lot of violence and anger and hatred. We need to go back to our sacred places and pray about this. In every generation, there are changes. But our way of life, our ceremonies, our prayers don't change. Our sacred sites don't change.

"When the first non-Indian came to this land, our people said, 'What shall we call this man?' and they called him Wasicu," he continued. "It means 'takes fat,' which we know today means the white brothers are taking fat off Mother Earth. Long ago, when the first nations lived on Turtle Island, through our prayers and ceremonies, we maintained harmony and peace, a way of life where there's no ending, no beginning.

"It's everyday life for us that we hold Grandmother Earth sacred, we hold the trees and the plants, everything has a spirit. We need people to be really respectful for each other. The Great Spirit put us here all together. If we're going to survive, we need to have spirit and compassion. On June 21 we're asking people to go to their sacred places or sacred spaces to pray."

Looking Horse seems surprised to be a global spokesperson for the environment. "It seems like it was just yesterday when a woman had no voice in this country, when our people were fighting for their rights," he said. "Just a hundred years ago, our people were in concentration camps called reservations. Our ceremonies were outlawed, and we were put in boarding schools. I never thought I would have the opportunity to go to the White House. Now today, people all over the world are listening to us."

And here's the message. "On June 21," said Looking Horse, "shut off the electricity and let's pray."

Gulf Coast Oil Spill - Sioux Prayer Request

****** A Great Urgency ******

To All World Religious and Spiritual Leaders

My Relatives,

Time has come to speak to the hearts of our Nations and their

Leaders. I ask you this from the bottom of my heart, to come together

From the Spirit of your Nations in prayer.

We, from the heart of Turtle Island, have a great message for the

World; we are guided to speak from all the White Animals showing

Their sacred color, which have been signs for us to pray for the

Sacred life of all things. As I am sending this message to you, many

Animal Nations are being threatened, those that swim, those that

Crawl, those that fly, and the plant Nations, eventually all will be

Affect from the oil disaster in the Gulf.

The dangers we are faced with at this time are not of spirit. The

Catastrophe that has happened with the oil spill which looks like the

Bleeding of Grandmother Earth, is made by human mistakes, mistakes

That we cannot afford to continue to make.

I asked, as Spiritual Leaders, that we join together, united in

Prayer with the whole of our Global Communities. My concern is these

Serious issues will continue to worsen, as a domino effect that our

Ancestors have warned us of in their Prophecies.

I know in my heart there are millions of people that feel our united

Prayers for the sake of our Grandmother Earth are long overdue. I

Believe we as Spiritual people must gather ourselves and focus our

Thoughts and prayers to allow the healing of the many wounds that

Have been inflicted on the Earth. As we honor the Cycle of Life, let

Us call for Prayer circles globally to assist in healing Grandmother

Earth (our Unc'I Maka).

We ask for prayers that the oil spill, this bleeding , will stop. That

The winds stay calm to assist in the work. Pray for the people to be

Guided in repairing this mistake, and that we may also seek to live

In harmony, as we make the choice to change the destructive path we

Are on.

As we pray, we will fully understand that we are all connected. And

That what we create can have lasting effects on all life.

So let us unite spiritually, All Nations, All Faiths, One Prayer.

Along with this immediate effort, I also ask to please remember June

21st, World Peace and Prayer Day/Honoring Sacred Sites day. Whether

It is a natural site, a temple, a church, a synagogue or just your

Own sacred space, let us make a prayer for all life, for good

Decision making by our Nations, for our children's future and

Well-being, and the generations to come.

How to Contact Ancestral Spirits

Our deceased loved ones are never really gone. Their spirits remain close to us and we may still communicate with them. In most cases, our ancestors who have passed over to the otherworld are eager to keep in touch with us and miss us just as much as we miss them. There may even be times when a departed ancestor will try to initiate contact with us. But we must be sensitive to these manifestations. For example, you may hear a whisper or catch their reflection in a mirror. Or perhaps their favorite song will come on the radio while you're thinking of them. A good friend of mine knew her late husband was near when she'd see a flicker of light in a stairway. My grandmother would make her presence kown after her death by leaving the scent of one of her favorite flowers, jasmine, in the air.

There are many other ways a departed family member may try to contact us--a dream, a touch, or a feeling are just a few. The problem is that when an ancestral spirit tries to contact us, their method of contact may be so subtle we could miss it. That is why many people I've met over the years are eager to learn how they can effectively contact the spirits of their ancestors. The reason someone may wish to contact a deceased ancestor usually varies. In some cases, the living wish to bring closure to a relationship and take care of any unresolved issues, or the living may seek guidance from the deceased. If for no other reason, spirit contact will comfort us and let us know that our deceased loved one is settling into a new existence in the spirit realm. If the deceased is a long-ago ancestor you never knew, contact may still be desired because it will enable you to reach into your past, and in doing so, you'll learn more about yourself, your culture, and traditions. No matter what the reason, to call upon our ancestors for guidance or support is a loving way to connect with them. All spirit contact should be done with respect. Never command your ancestor to communicate with you, always ask--the contact should be desired by both of you.

Preparation

Before attempting to get in touch with a deceased loved one, you should have a few things on hand. If possible, have available a few personal items that belonged to the deceased. These may include clothing, jewelry, eyeglasses, or a key. A photograph of your loved one, especially if you're also in it, would be another good item. Food, perfumes, or anything else the departed enjoyed in life are also good choices.

To set the mood, candles in white or yellow may be used. Herbs associated with spirit contact, such as sweetgrass and wormwood, are sometimes burned during a spirit ritual. Not only do they help spirit contact, their scents are also cleansing and protective. If you plan on using your altar or table, these should be draped in a plain black cloth.

Methods of Contacting Ancestral Spirits

The first things that come to mind when we speak of contacting our deceased loved ones are ouija boards, psychics, and seances. Under the right conditions, and with the guidance of a valid spiritualist, these methods of spirit contact are fine. But, when seeking intimate communication with a loved one in the spirit realm, you may wish to use a more private method, one that you can perform alone. The techniques that follow utilize traditional magical methods to help you contact the spirits of your ancestors safely and respectfully. Let's begin.

Using a Letter to Contact the Deceased

Special verses or letters used as charms to contact the deceased date back to the early days of German magic. These letters are known as Himmels-brief, which means "a letter to heaven," or "heaven letter." Few people outside the Pennsylvania Dutch community have heard of them, but Himmels-briefs were frequently used to contact a deceased family member. Some of these charms, if written by a powerful magician, could cost hundreds of dollars.

Here is one way to use a Himmels-brief to contact an ancestral spirit. Select a sheet of clean white paper and a special pen. Light a yellow candle, and place before you a photo of the deceased or a personal item they once owned. Begin writing your letter as you would any letter. You may request help for a particular situation or ask a question. The letter doesn't need to be long. Take your time; you needn't write everything in one letter. End by thanking the spirit and wishing them peace. Finish by folding the letter as if you're sending it and burn it in a ritual fire. The smoke will "send" your letter to the deceased.

Your letter may be answered in a dream, or you may visualize your ancestor actually speaking to you. Another way to seek your answer is to scry into the candle flame of the candle you've just used. A letter is a very personal, loving way to contact a deceased relative.

Contacting with a Magic Mirror

Magic mirrors are an ideal way to contact an ancestral spirit. Before using a mirror for any spirit contact, speak Words of Power to surround yourself with positive energy, and trace a holy symbol (such as a pentagram or cross) over the mirror to prevent any unwelcome spirit from entering your space.

Once again, place a personal item belonging to the deceased near the miorror, or hold the item. Darken the room and light a white candle; set it off to one side.

Concentrate on your ancestor and ask if they wish to communicate with you. Gazing at the mirror, visualize your ancestor and ask a question if you'd like. A misty or sharp image of your relative may begin to form. Be aware that the face may look younger or healthier than you remember. Your question may be answered with a symbol, or an actual scene could appear in your mirror.

Keep your mirror sessions short to avoid fatigue. Thank the spirit; let yourself slowly return to reality and snuff out the candle. If contact isn't made, simply try again in a few days.

Channeling with a Pendulum

Pendulums are usually used to give a yes or no answer to divine the future, but I've found them to be an effective tool to contact a family member on the other side because you have intimate contact with the pendulum. and, in a way, you are helping to channel the communication.

You may use the pendulum for spirit contact in two ways. First, you could ask the ancestral spirit if they are present. Then continue with simple questions that can be answered yes or no.

If you wish to receive more detailed answers, try this: First, I'm assuming that you already know the direction your pendulum will swing for a yes or no answer. If you haven't already established that, do so now. Next write all the letters of the alphabet on a piece of paper. Ask the spirit a question and pass the pendulum over each letter. When the pendulum says yes to a letter, record it. A message will begin to form. You may wish to have someone else write the message down as you work the pendulum. You'll be surprised at the answers you'll receive.

When done, thank the spirit and the pendulum for their guidance. Using a pendulum in this manner can be time consuming but rewarding.

These are only a few ideas on how to contact ancestral spirits. Other interesting methods you might want to explore on your own include dream work, meditation, and automatic writing.

However you choose to contact family members and loved ones who've left the physical world, it's important for our ancestral spirits to know that they're welcome to communicate with us. Even when we aren't actively seeking to contact them, let loved ones know you're thinking of them. Leave a bit of their favorite food on your altar, outside your door, or on their grve if possible. Leaving a gift is an especially loving gesture if you do this on their birthday, or on any special day you both shared. Or, you may honor your ancestor by planting a flower in their memory in your garden.

These acts of love and kindness willmake your ancestral spirits feel welcomed, and will improve future contacts.

Travel Flow Spell

When traveling for business, pay attention to the flow of energy. You go and return; you exchange power with other people. It’s all about building connections. This spell enhances positive energy flow. For it, you will need a pair of candles—one representing yourself and the other representing whomever you’re going to meet—some gold yarn, and a lighter. First, name the candles for yourself and your business partner. Set them up and wrap the yarn around their bases in a figure-eight pattern. Light the candles. Now say:

Golden thread and golden light,

Spin a trail of truth and right.

As we follow, let us see

All the worth in you and me.

As the shadows softly fall,

Let this trip bring good for all.

Meditate for a while on your trip’s purpose, then blow out the candles. Carry the string with you when you travel.
